How a magnetic box is built
- Board: kappa (grey) board, typically 1.5 mm to 3 mm thick, gives the box its rigid walls.
- Wrap: printed art paper, kraft, textured paper, cloth or soft-touch film covers the board.
- Magnets: small magnets sit under the wrap in the flap and the box front, so there is nothing visible on the outside.
- Insert: a moulded mycelium cradle, a paperboard tray or a honeycomb pad holds the product in place.
Magnetic box styles
Full flap magnetic box
The lid is a single panel that folds over the front and snaps shut. The most common style for perfume and skincare gift sets.
Half-moon or partial flap
A shorter flap closes onto the front panel, often with a thumb notch. It uses slightly less material and shows more of the box print.
