Reverse tuck end box template
What is a reverse tuck end box?
A reverse tuck end box is a one-piece folding carton with a glued side seam and a tuck lid at each end. The difference is where the lids are hinged: the top lid is hinged on the back panel and the bottom lid on the front panel, so the two ends tuck in opposite directions.
Because the lids sit on opposite edges of the flat blank, reverse tuck end blanks nest closely on a printing sheet. That makes the RTE an economical, everyday choice for retail cartons, and it is the style you will see on many perfume, cosmetic and medicine boxes. When the front panel must be completely clean, for example with a window, use the straight tuck end box template instead.
Reverse tuck end vs straight tuck end
Both styles use the same panels, dust flaps and glue flap, and this generator sizes them with the same rules: each panel is the inside size plus one board thickness, the tuck depth is about 45% of the width, and dust flaps are sized from the length and width. Only the hinge of the bottom lid changes. In the preview, the top lid sits above the back panel and the bottom lid below the front panel.
Choose reverse tuck end for efficient sheet use and quick hand assembly. Choose straight tuck end when the front face needs to be uninterrupted. Both open and close many times, which suits products that are used daily.
Good uses for a reverse tuck end carton
Perfume and attar cartons, skincare and haircare bottles, Ayurveda oils and churna jars, tubes, medicine bottles and blister strips. For a glass bottle, add a moulded mycelium insert inside the carton to hold the bottle at the neck and base, so it does not rattle or break in transit.
Artwork tips
On a reverse tuck end the bottom lid folds up from the front panel, so the lower edge of the front is a fold rather than a cut, and the top lid opens from the back. Plan the front design with that in mind, and place the barcode on a side or back panel, away from folds.

FAQ
Reverse tuck end box template: questions, answered
What is a reverse tuck box?
A reverse tuck box, or reverse tuck end box, is a folding carton whose top lid is hinged on the back panel and whose bottom lid is hinged on the front panel, so the two ends tuck in opposite directions.
Is a reverse tuck end box cheaper than a straight tuck end?
Often, yes. The opposite lids let the flat blanks nest more tightly on the printing sheet, so more boxes fit on each sheet. The exact saving depends on the box size and the sheet your printer uses.
What size should a perfume box be?
Measure the bottle at its widest points, including the cap, and add a little clearance, or add the insert wall if you use one. For a 50 ml bottle a carton of about 55 × 35 × 110 mm is a common starting point, but always size the box from your own bottle.
Can I print on the inside of the carton?
Yes. Download the artwork guide SVG and design the inside on a separate file. Tell your printer it is a two-sided print.
Does the reverse tuck end template include the glue flap?
Yes. The glue flap is on the edge of the last side panel and is tinted yellow. Keep artwork and varnish off it so the glue bonds well.
